''Host a Supreme Court House Party''

"Hosting a Supreme Court House Party is easy, fun and we’ll show you how. Hosts overwhelmingly tell us that they’re glad they took the plunge. There are always lots of MoveOn members who are willing to help as long as someone takes the first step and gets things going.

To host an event you just need a location for people to get together, a progressive video (click here for a list of movies suggested by MoveOn members and staff), a television and a VCR or DVD player. Finally, you’ll need to make a copy for each of your attendees of a few pages of materials that we’ll provide for you.

We’ve posted a house party guide that includes everything you’ll need to know to host a successful party. Once your guests arrive your main responsibility is to manage the flow of the evening and facilitate the discussion. Don’t worry if this is your first time hosting a party like this. Your guests are all there because they want to help make a difference, so they won’t care if you don’t get things perfect.

We’ll send out an email to MoveOn members in your area asking them to attend. If you’re already on an Operation Democracy team, please invite the rest of your team to your party by sending them a “discussion message” using the new Action Center. Sign up to be a Host here. If you can't host, find a party near you here.
