Howard Dean on "Fox News Sunday"

UPI:
Howard Dean: 'We need to get out of Iraq'--- Howard Dean, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, Sunday said unequivocally U.S. forces need to leave Iraq.

Dean, appearing on "Fox News Sunday," said with Democrats regaining control of the Senate and the House of Representatives in last week's midterm elections, the party plans on working with the administration to end the Iraqi conflict.

"We can't have a stay-the-course mentality. We need to get out of Iraq," Dean told Fox News host Chris Wallace. "The question is how we can do that. We hope to work with the president to bring our troops home."

Dean also claimed the Democrats' recent victory represents the people's support of a possible withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq.

"Keeping 140,000 brave Americans in Iraq is not making America safer. It's very clear that it's not made America safer," said Dean. "And the American people just voted to say send some folks in there who are willing to be tough and smart about how we defend the country."

"We're not going to put up with terrorism in Iraq or anyplace else, but we can't keep 140,000 brave Americans in Iraq indefinitely," he added. "Did not we learn this lesson in Vietnam?"
