On Monday night, we held an emergency health care briefing with Dr. Howard Dean. More than 20,000 signed up for it—our biggest conference call ever!
Dr. Dean made a key point during the briefing: "If there is no public insurance option...then this is not reform at all." The Nation reported on the briefing, and declared that Dr. Dean was "absolutely right."
More exciting news: At the end of the call, we took action together and told Congress why the public option is so important to each of us. We delivered the comments to Senator John Kerry, who entered them all into the public record of yesterday's health care hearing.
The incredible turnout for the briefing meant some people had trouble listening to the whole thing. If you did, make sure to check out the key moments.
You can also read more about the event in the article from The Nation.
I started posting on HowieinSeattle in 11/04, following progressive American politics in the spirit of Howard Dean's effort to "Take Our Country Back." I decided to follow my heart and posted on seattleforbarackobama from 2/07 to 11/08.--"Howie Martin is the Abe Linkin' of progressive Seattle."--Michael Hood.
