Before the power goes out in this latest snow squall, we'd like to share with you a few highlights from last night's taping of IN PERFORMANCE AT THE WHITE HOUSE: A CELEBRATION OF MUSIC FROM THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT. Press from The Washington Post, The New York Times and USA Today managed to attend yesterday's festivities, and all have published articles out today (or posted very late last night on their website), with nice placement for in the print editions. It was truly a momentous occasion, as Bob Dylan performed "The Times They Are A-Changin'" for the 1st time in 30 years for a live audience...not to mention it was his first-ever performance at the White House. Joan Baez called for a singalong from the invited audience, and got one, on “We Shall Overcome." Yolanda Adams, a gospel luminary, sang “A Change Is Gonna Come,” while Jennifer Hudson and Smokey Robinson traded lines on “People Get Ready.” Natalie Cole sang “I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free,” and President Obama joined the closing all-star singalong for “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing,” often known as the black national anthem. Your viewers are in for an unforgettable treat!

We are thrilled to announce that the founding youth of Youngstown Records are currently in Washington, D.C., representing Seattle and creative young people across the country at the historic concert "A Celebration of Music from the Civil Rights Movement." This opportunity was granted by the Grammy Foundation through Kathleen Allen, community arts liason with Seattle Public Schools, when she was moved by the students' performance for the opening of their exhibit at the Frye Art Gallery.
