"Return of the Angry Man"--and return of the
journalistic drivel. This WA Post article about Howard
Dean is a bunch of crap. Sally Jenkins, whoever she is
(a Jodie Wilgoren wannabe?) is a hack who had WAY too
much space to fill.
The writer was given her instructions:
1) Fill lots of column space.
2) Describe Dean as a bit scary: unpredictable, loose
cannon, attacking without thinking. We'll put "Angry
Man" in the headline.
3) Quote several Repub leaders warning what a disaster
he'll be for Democrats. Always include some unnamed
"centrist Democrats" who don't like him.
4) For every somewhat positive assessment, mention two
that disparage him in some way. Preferably snarky.
5) Don't forget the scream, scream, scream.
Sally thinks: "Hmm, 'eyes of sky blue' sounds too
pleasant. I'll use 'winter blue, as if buried in a
block of ice'--that sounds cold and nasty. His
complexion is a bit pink, so I'll say 'a burnished
outdoor red'. And with his white temples--hey, it's
the colors of the flag! I'm so clever!!" "
His socks and cheap suits have been criticized
before, so I'll do his shoes. His loafers have 'two
perfect half-moons worn down at the heels'. It's
disparaging, yet poetic," Sally concludes.
Most telling quote: "...he's capable in the next
instant of making a statement that forces staffers to
roll their eyes and rush back to their offices to
control the fallout. It has become a weekly ritual:
Dean says something, such as calling Republicans
'pretty much a white, Christian party,' angering
conservatives and scaring the wits out of centrist
Democrats, who promptly distance themselves from him."
DEAN SAID SOMETHING, YIKES!!!
Dean's remark--that Republican membership is mostly
White Christian and lacks diversity--is a well-known
fact confirmed by statistics; but that's not
important. Conservatives are ANGERED and "Centrist
Democrats" are scared WITLESS by its mention! So says
Sally Jenkins!
They're not "scared witless" by a corrupt, greedy, and
reckless Republican administration attempting to bring
back the 19th century; not "scared witless" by
staggering deficits, disastrous foreign policy,
carnage in Iraq and human rights abuses; no, they're
"scared witless" by Dean's remarks!!!

The article goes on in the same vein--excuse
me--"throbbing vein". Propaganda.
Haven't we heard this before!?! UGH!"-thanks to Dina Lydia Johnson for this post.
