GRITtv: "Rick Steves: Travel as a Political Act" (video)

GRITtv, with video (15:53):
Barack Obama called for a new relationship between the United States and the Muslim world in his recent speech from Cairo. Today's guest says that what's really going to build that relationship isn't talk - it's travel. For Rick Steves, popular PBS travel host and author of more than thirty guidebooks, traveling has become a way of life.

Since 1973, Steves has been hopping around the globe, spending 120 days a year living out of a backpack. He's just published a book where he extols the benefits of conscientious traveling for broadening one's perspective on the world: Travel as Political Act is just out from Nation Books.

Howie P.S.: Steves was born and raised in the Seattle area (Edmonds) and still makes his home here.
