July 12, 2006, Senator Obama spoke at the Campus Progress Annual Conference. He spoke of his time as a community organizer on the south side of Chicago. He told a story of when things didn't go as well as he'd expected and he felt disappointed and discouraged. He said:"Making your mark on the world is hard. If it were easy, everybody would do it. But it's not. It takes patience, it takes commitment, and it comes with plenty of failure along the way. The real test is not whether you avoid this failure, because you won't. it's whether you let it harden or shame you into inaction, or whether you learn from it; whether you choose to persevere."
It hit me. That's exactly what we need to do now. Persevere. In the face of a perceived failure, we should learn from it and move on to the next challenge we face. That challenge is Nevada. You can do your part now to help out in Nevada by making phone calls to Nevada voters and encouraging them to caucus for Barack next week on January 19th. It's a very simple and straight forward process that anyone with some time and motivation can do. You can get started by going here.
