"Get on the Obama Bus: Road trip to Oregon"

Shanna Sawatzki:
Jen Hauseman, one of the coordinators in the 43rd, and her group are putting together a fun trip to Oregon Saturday, April 26th from 9 am-9 pm. This trip will be to register voters in advance of their registration deadline that week and their primary. Remember Oregon is all mail-in voting, and ballots are mailed on May 5th!
I hope you all can make it! Spots on the double-decker bus are first-come, first-served, and additional school buses will be added as interest increases!!!

Get on the Obama Bus: Road trip to Oregon

We're renting a school bus and heading to Portland to register voters for the Democratic Presidential primary!

When and Where
Saturday, April 26th, 9:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m. (check-in starts at 8:30am). From there, we'll bus it to Portland, Oregon.

What We'll Be Doing: Registering Voters

If you've never done voter registration before, don't worry. We will have three hours to review our plan for the day while on the bus and you'll be teamed up with a friend or canvassing buddy (we work in pairs). In Portland we'll meet up with the local Obama staff for a quick training. Then we'll hit the streets, registering new Democratic voters and converting Green Party members, independents, and even some Republicans to support this once-in-a-lifetime candidate.

How It Will Work
For $20, you'll get a ride there and back, lunch and snacks on the way, instructions on what to do, and a write-up of nearby cafes and restaurants for dinner. And besides, how often do you get to ride a bus with 40 people who are as intelligent as you?
We will leave at 9:00 a.m. sharp from the Greenlake Park and Ride. Mike Hale of Hale's Ales has generously offered us his rad red double-decker British bus; the first 40 people to sign up will have the option of riding in big red. If we fill more than one bus, we'll rent yellow school buses to get there and back.
We'll arrive in Portland around noon. After a brief training, we will split up into teams and canvass for at least four hours. After that we will reconvene and leave Portland by 6:00 p.m., arriving back in Seattle around 9 p.m. Spaces are limited, and it's a first-come, first-served situation. You can pay the nonrefundable $20 fee and find out more details here:

Thank you for helping Barack Obama in his fight to change our country!
