Hillary Clinton, who joked about taking the stage wearing "an asbestos pantsuit" Thursday night, won what could turn out to be the critical debate of the race for the Democratic presidential nomination.Howie P.S.: It has been suggested that the boos were as scripted as Hillary's answers. Initially, her playing of the gender card bothered me, but her flips on social security and the war and her distortion of Obama's social security plan, her "mud-sling" charge and playing the "victim" role ended up being as offensive as her DLC-based political philosophy. Her repetition of the Bush-Cheney charge that Iran was "killing our soldiers" in Iraq, after the Iraqi government debunked it earlier, was probably her most dangerous comment of the evening.
Not long afterward, when Illinois Senator Barack Obama took a swing at Clinton, he was booed just as loudly.
Clinton had cornered them. They had no room for movement.
She won the night, and she might well have won a great deal more.
