John Edwards: Pro and Con

Lynn Sweet (Chicago Sun-Times):
John Edwards campaign advisor Kate Michelman--former NARAL president-- is attacking frontrunner Hillary Rodham Clinton--the first female with a real chance of being elected president-- for complaining that her male rivals are "piling on."

"It's trying to have it both ways; walk the fence, something Senator Clinton's good at. At one minute the strong woman ready to lead, the next, she's the woman under attack, disingenuously playing the victim card as a means of trying to avoid giving honest, direct answers to legitimate questions," Michelman said in a statement the campaign issued Saturday.

Michelman has impeccable creditionals when it comes to the struggle for womens equality and supporting women cracking glass ceilings. As the former president of NARAL, she has been a long-time national leader in the abortions rights movement.

Michelman goes after Clinton for playing the gender card after Clinton botch answers in Tuesday's debate in Philadelphia--with Edwards part of an aggresive assault.

"As a woman who's been in the public eye and experienced scrutiny, as a woman who knows how hard it can be for women to earn their seat at the leadership table, how hard women have to work just to get the same opportunities, this distresses me," she said.

Think On These Things, with video (00:31):
If Hillary is Queen of ‘Double-Talk,’ Then John Edwards Is King--How can John Edwards slam Hillary Clinton for using the gender card after the many ridiculous complaints that he and his wife have been making about gender and race over the past few months? Mr. “Can a white man still be elected President?” and Mrs. “Sometimes you have to act like a man and not talk about women’s issues.” C’mon man. You got to be kidding me.

Then he slams Hillary for ‘politics of parsing‘ despite the underreported parsing and flip-flopping he himself has been doing over the past few months.

How is it that Edwards always ends up being on the opposite side of the frontrunner of the moment? He was on the anti-Obama bandwagon weeks ago when everyone was piling on him. Now he’s on the anti-Clinton bandwagon now that everyone is piling on her. You can’t do that without having been switching positions and using double-talk yourself.

From July 2007…(video, (0031).

P.S. Remember at the debate this past week when Edwards railed against Bill Richardson for saying something similar to what he said in this video? lol John Edwards might be fooling some people, but he is not fooling meeee!!! No, thank you. No snake oil for me today.
