"Obama says Iran big threat to the U.S. and Israel"

i'm curious about why progressives are supporting obama. having read his book and looked at speeches like this one on israel/iran, i haven't found anything of real substance that would qualify obama as a progressive. edwards, on the other hand, while he's just as bad as obama on iran/israel, does have a very solid health care proposal and, unlike obama, is talking about poverty and inequality. so can you explain what the attraction is for obama, or direct me to concrete progressive proposals that he's made?
