Ben Smith:
A Dodd spokesman confirms that the campaign has let go much of its fundraising operation, and is shifting resources from Washington to Iowa.
"Our fourth-quarter finance plan is already in place," said spokesman Hari Sevugan. "Like every campaign, we are going to be focusing our resources on Iowa, where our message of results is resonating."
The campaign, a source said, ended contracts with three senior fundraising consultants: Stephanie Berger, Rachelle Hirschberg and Tracy Austin.
Dodd raised $1.5 million in the third quarter, and he's expected to be dispatching much of his remaining staff to the Hawkeye state. Dropping the fundraisers suggests that he'll be more focused on spending what money remains than raising more, though he does have more fundraising events scheduled.
