SEATTLE - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is formally opening his campaign in Washington with a series of fund-raisers Friday.Howie P.S.: I'll be at the WaMu Theater and will post about it later.
His agenda includes a speech to as many as 5,000 people at 5:30 p.m. the WaMu Theater in the Qwest Field Event Center, followed by two receptions at the Westin Hotel. Ticket prices range from $25-100 at Quest Field and up to $2,300 at the Westin.
State Democratic Party Chairman Dwight Pelz says Obama and former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina seem to be top choices among the party faithful in Washington, followed by New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson and Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York.
I started posting on HowieinSeattle in 11/04, following progressive American politics in the spirit of Howard Dean's effort to "Take Our Country Back." I decided to follow my heart and posted on seattleforbarackobama from 2/07 to 11/08.--"Howie Martin is the Abe Linkin' of progressive Seattle."--Michael Hood.
