"Liberal groups to campaign against Bush Iraq plan"

David Postman:
A coalition of liberal organizations will announce tomorrow a multi-million dollar media campaign against President Bush's call for sending more U.S. troops to Iraq.

Many of the groups were part of an effort that bolstered Democratic opposition to Bush's 2005 Social Security plan. The "National Campaign Against the Escalation of the War in Iraq" includes MoveOn.org's PAC, anti-war groups, the powerful Services Employees International Union, and the Campaign for America's Future, which has opposed Social Security privatization and pushed for an increase in the minimum wage.

The campaign will be unveiled at a press conference in D.C. tomorrow. Organizers say it will be "a massive effort in at least 20 to 25 states" that will include paid advertising and "a firestorm of grassroots mobilization."
