''... a day of free coffee and cake''

MONTPELIER –"Winning the Democratic nomination for president proved a touch much for former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean, but it seems increasingly apparent that becoming chairman of the Democratic National Committee should be a piece of cake. It is with that in mind that the folks over at "The Howard BEAN: A Café For America" plan to celebrate Dean's looming appointment with a day of free coffee and cake a week from Sunday "In the unlikely event that Mr. Dean is not selected, we will be commiserating with a day of free tea and sympathy," says café owner Patrick Mullikin. Regular readers may recall The Howard BEAN Café, which is located at Riverwalk Records on State Street in Montpelier, opened Election Day 2004. The name was the product of a contest and the café has since become the meeting place for Central Vermont Democracy for America MeetUp."-from the story, 'A cake-walk?,' in today's Times Argus (VT).
